Azzurri Communications recognised as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK & Ireland

Azzurri Communications ranked 45 in the 2007 Deloitte Buyout Track 100

Newbury, UK, 19 February 2007:  Leading converged business voice and data company, Azzurri Communications today announced that it has been ranked 45 in the inaugural Deloitte Buyout Track 100, a new league table of the UK’s 100 private equity-backed mid-market companies with the fastest growing profits (EBITDA) over two years. Rankings are based on growth in EBITDA over their latest two-years.

“Our placement in the Deloitte Buyout Track 100 is fantastic news for everyone at Azzurri and we are delighted to have the endorsement of an internationally respected company such as Deloitte,” comments Martin St Quinton, CEO, Azzurri Communications. “This research shows the success that companies such as Azzurri have had in Britain and further backs up Azzurri’s commitment to excellence and growth.”

Azzurri’s placement in the Buyout Track 100, is the latest in a long line of achievements for Azzurri, including; Microsoft Tech Track 100 in 2004 and 2005, the Microsoft Tech Track 100 Best Management Team award in 2005 and the Deloitte Fast 50 and PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track in 2006.

Formed in June 2000, Azzurri Communications is one of the largest converged voice, data, and managed service companies in the UK.  Since 2000, it has made 16 acquisitions including DVH Group, MiTech Group and Sirocom, in October last year. Azzurri itself was acquired by PPM Capital, the private equity arm of Prudential plc, for a cash consideration of £182.5 million in June 2006.

Buyout Track 100 companies make a substantial contribution to the economy. Together, they employ 96,000 people and improved their profits by an annual average of 37% over the past two years to reach a total of £1.1 billion in their latest accounting periods.

This is the first year The Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100 has been published. It is compiled by Oxford-based research and networking events company Fast Track. Companies have to be registered in the UK, be independent, unquoted and ultimate holding companies. At least 20% of a company’s shares have to be owned by a private equity fund or venture capital firm.

PRESS RELEASE: ApplianSys secures next funding round

ApplianSys secures next funding round

Funding will accelerate the development of its product portfolio and distribution

ApplianSys, which boasts a growing range of server appliances for corporate networks, has today announced ambitious plans for expansion following the completion of its third VC funding round. The investing syndicate was co-led by The Capital Fund and the London Technology Fund and includes several private investors.

The company's impressive Global 500 customer list convinced investors that ApplianSys has hit upon a winning formula with network managers, within the fast-growing appliance market. The investment will fuel accelerated expansion via increased investment in product development, customer service, marketing and channel development activities.

Mike Clark, CEO of ApplianSys, explained: "We've always believed in the appliance ideal. The company was founded by people who had felt the pain of managing thousands of servers in large organisations. The appliance medicine makes network managers' lives easier, reducing costs and eliminating headaches." The company aims to differentiate its products by focusing on core "appliance values" - simplicity, security, robustness and affordability. "Vendors are too easily sucked into the usual feature-creep cycle. Our customers are explicit - they don't want to pay for features they don't need. They don't want the headaches that come with unnecessary complexity."

Once the company extended this thinking beyond products to service, sales started to take off across Europe and the US. "We've come to realise that their pains are not only technical. Selecting and procuring network technology inside large organisations can be a real headache for those involved. Articulating our mission as 'making network manager's lives easier' - and driving our people to look for ways to do that - helps us win business. What this funding allows us to do is bring more good people into our business so that we do that better and faster for more customers. We can now accelerate towards our goal of being a leading European appliance vendor."

David McMeekin, chairman of the The Capital Fund and London Technology Fund, said: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to support this exciting company as it builds its presence in the global market for server appliances".

About ApplianSys
ApplianSys designs and manufactures a growing range of server appliance solutions that make IT network managers' lives easier and save them money. Corporate network managers are turning to appliances in increasing numbers, because of the benefits they offer: ease of use, greater security, reliability and lower costs.

With modest resources to date, ApplianSys has proven its product and business concepts. It has already established a strong track record with Global 500 customers across Europe and North America. It has a distinctive approach to products - which has won plaudits from blue-chip network managers; and a distinctive business model that exploits the fragmented nature of the fast-growing appliance market and promises high scalability to investors.

ApplianSys develops products based on existing network application software - either open source or from commercial partners. It is already a leading player globally in the DNS appliance market with the DNSBOX range, and in the UK cache market, particularly in education. It is building a broad portfolio of network solutions in appliance form. The latest addition to the portfolio - AUDITBOX - is already gaining ground in the burgeoning Vulnerability Assessment (VA) market.

Redstone acquires Comunica Holdings Limited

The acquisition will give Redstone increased capacity and scale in the converged market, with a more substantial presence in key vertical markets

8 February 2007 - Redstone, the national IT and communications solutions provider, today announces that the Group has agreed to acquire the business of Comunica for a total consideration of up to £22 million. This will be the fourth acquisition in eight months for the Group.

The acquisition complements Redstone’s existing business, and will substantially increase the position of the company as a leading UK IT and communications solution provider.

Comunica will bring further specialist network and communications infrastructure solutions, providing design, implementation and project management services. It has a largely blue-chip client base across industries including financial and professional services, retail, energy, media, transport and the public sector.

Martin Balaam, Chief Executive of Redstone, commented: “The acquisition of Comunica is in line with Redstone’s strategy of making select acquisitions while retaining a focus on improving the profitability and growth of the Group’s existing activities. The Acquisition increases Redstone’s reach in the Converged Solutions arena.

“Comunica’s success in winning business from blue chip firms for large infrastructure projects sits ideally with Redstone’s own successes in converged solutions with securing business from both the corporate and public sectors.  Redstone is eager to work with Comunica’s existing customer base, which brings further opportunities for cross-selling the Group’s services.”

Balaam and his team believe that the acquisition provides Redstone with the following principal strategic benefits:
        *       Removal of a significant competitor from the converged solutions market;
        *       Enhanced prospects due to its increased capacity and scale, with a more substantial presence in key vertical markets;

        *       Increased purchasing power with suppliers, which is expected to help achieve increased revenue growth and win new accounts; and

        *       Significant opportunities to cross sell Redstone’s other products and services to Comunica’s customer base.

Redstone also gives notice of an EGM to be held on 5 March 2007 at the offices of Osborne Clarke, One London Wall, London EC2Y 5EB at 11.00 a.m., at which resolutions will be proposed for the purposes of implementing the Placing.
