Long term technology businessman leads the board at network consultancy
Cambridge, 10 April 2006 - Nigel Horne, the long term technology businessman
and entrepreneur, has been appointed chairman of Intergence Systems, the
Cambridge based network consultancy. With over 45 years experience in
business and technology, Nigel is ideally placed to take the position of
chairman within Intergence using his understanding of the industry to help
guide the company to success in a dynamic marketplace.
"Today most people are aware of the Internet but of all the networks in the
world, very few are IP. For some it's a tough task to transition old
networks onto new IP networks and organisations need the skills of clever
technical people to make it happen", said Nigel Horne. "Intergence is a
group of independent minded, intelligent, global, technical people who can
provide the skills needed to help companies make the most of their networks.

time, having advised and worked with Peter Job in the founding and expansion

Nigel Horne has spent many years in the telecommunications and computer
manufacturing and service industries. He has been heavily involved in the
development of digital networks, opto-electronics, mobile networks,
broadband networks and the Internet in a variety of roles ranging from
technology, network service provider, components and equipment supplier to
speaker and adviser to companies and governments.
Nigel Horne was chief executive of a group of companies in GEC plc later
joining KPMG Peat Marwick as partner in charge of information technology
consulting. For eight years he was chairman of Alcatel UK and was founder
director of many new entrepreneurial companies. In 2005 he was interim
director of engineering for National Air Traffic Services Limited
responsible for the operation, development and safety aspects of the
technical infrastructure for air traffic movements in the UK.
During the past few years Nigel Horne has undertaken a number of assignments
advising boards on business and ICT strategy and implementation, mainly in
retail, banking and utilities.
