Leading telecoms company acquires Chisholms Computers Ltd in its twelfth strategic acquisition
Newbury, UK - Leading communications and technology company, Azzurri Communications, today announced that it has acquired Chisholms Computers Ltd, a supplier of technology hardware and network solutions, educational internet service provider and software house, for a maximum consideration of £5.5m. Based in Kingston upon Hull, Chisholms has an annual turnover of £10.6m and employs 71 staff. It has an exceptional track record in implementing IT solutions in public sector organisations and maintains strong partnerships with market leading hardware manufacturers.
Since the company was established in 1991, Chisholms has earned a reputation for quality and efficiency, founded on a sound technical background and a commitment to the delivery of customer satisfaction. With a wealth of customers and experience in the education, health, and local government sectors, this acquisition will enable Azzurri to strengthen its position in the public sector marketplace. The education sector focus is enhanced with the Talmos software suite developed by Chisholms’ Progrid team. This highly effective virtual learning and teaching environment meets the needs of both teachers and students by enabling effective resource planning and management of lessons. This can help schools achieve a high level of academic achievement and works towards the government’s goal of achieving collaborative working in schools.
Martin St. Quinton, CEO at Azzurri, commented: “With each of our acquisitions, we look for companies that have some value to add to the Azzurri offering and brand. Chisholms’ commitment to supplying quality products and services to its customers makes it a great fit with Azzurri and will only serve to reinforce our market position as we aim to become the consultancy of choice for IT and telecoms solutions.”
Azzurri Communications was formed in June 2000 and has grown through eleven previous strategic acquisitions, incorporated under one Azzurri brand. Chisholms will be integrated into Azzurri with virtually no disruption to the existing business and managing director, Gerard Toplass, will continue as divisional director, reporting to Ian Kelly, Northern region managing director at Azzurri.
“Joining the Azzurri team marks the start of a new and exciting era for us as it now presents us with the potential and support to grow the business and offer additional services to our existing customer base,” said Gerard Toplass, managing director of Chisholms Computers. “With access to a wider range of technologies and expertise, our customers will benefit greatly from us being part of Azzurri and we are looking forward to bigger and better things as a company.”
